CINCINNATI (AP) -Cincinnati suspended freshman forward Alvin Mitchell on Friday for violating team rules.
Mitchell has started one game and appeared in 21 others, averaging 2.8 points. He is 10th on the team in scoring. Coach Mick Cronin said Mitchell could return if he works on his deficiencies.
``We have standards and expectations for our players on the court, in the classroom and in their individual behavior,'' Cronin said, declining to elaborate. ``Alvin is not meeting those expectations at this team.''
Cincinnati is 12-12 overall and 7-5 in the Big East during Cronin's second season as head coach. The Bearcats' next game is Wednesday at home against South Florida.
