STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) -Oklahoma could be getting leading scorer Blake Griffin back in time for its regular-season finale.
Sooners coach Jeff Capel said Wednesday that it's possible the freshman forward could be healed enough from his right knee surgery to be able to play in Saturday's home game against Missouri.
``Don't be surprised to see him play on Saturday,'' Capel said after the Sooners' 68-56 victory at Oklahoma State on Wednesday night. ``He wanted to try to play today. He texted me earlier today asking me could he play.
``I don't know. I'll have to get with our doctors and find out.''
Griffin had surgery on Sunday to repair a partial tear in his meniscus and initially wasn't expected to return until the Big 12 tournament. But Griffin returned earlier than expected when he injured his other knee earlier this season.
In that case, he was expected to miss as much as four weeks but was able to play only 12 days after he sprained his knee.
Griffin averages 15.2 points and 9.3 rebounds.
