BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Torrell Martin scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds, leading Winthrop to a 56-43 victory over Birmingham-Southern in Big South play on Saturday night.
James Shuler added 14 points and Craig Bradshaw had 10 points for Winthrop (20-7, 13-3). Bradshaw also grabbed a game-high nine boards for the Eagles, who outrebounded the Panthers 43-31.
James Collins had the only double figures for the Panthers (19-8, 12-4), scoring 10 points. Dwayne Paul scored eight points and grabbed a six rebounds.
The Panthers outscored Winthrop 24-18 in the paint and 13-8 off turnovers, but were still held to 27.3 percent shooting.
Winthrop led 24-21 at halftime.
