SAN ANTONIO (AP) -Mike Walker scored 13 points and Derrick Roberts added 10, including four key free throws in the final seconds, to lead SMU past Texas-San Antonio 62-56 Saturday.

The Mustangs (2-4) broke a 45-45 tie with an 11-1 run capped by a Jon Killen 3-pointer that put them ahead 56-46 with 4:13 remaining.

The Roadrunners (4-2) scored six quick points to keep it close and trailed 58-56 after Devin Gibson made two free throws with 39 seconds left.

UTSA let the clock run down to 16 seconds before fouling Roberts, who made both free throws. After Melvin Smith missed a 3-pointer for the Roadrunners, Roberts made two more free throws for the final margin.

The Roadrunners led 31-25 at halftime despite shooting just 29 percent in the first half. SMU made just three of 11 free throws before halftime but hit 12 of 14 in the second half.

Travis Gabbidon of UTSA led all scorers with 15 points, and Keith Spencer had a game-high 12 rebounds. Alex Malone had 12 points for SMU.
