GALLIANO, La. (AP) -Gil Verner scored 17 points off the bench, leading Nicholls State to a 72-60 victory over Lipscomb on Saturday in a game played in a high school gymnasium because of fall commencement at Stopher Gym.

Dominic Friend added 15 points, Michael Czepil had 13 and Ryan Bathie and Adonis Gray had 10 each for the Colonels (4-7), who jumped out to a 36-14 lead with 5:09 left in the first half and were never seriously threatened.

Eddie Ard had 16 points and Brandon Brown 11 for Lipscomb (4-7).
