CHICAGO (AP) -J.R. Blount and Leon Young had 16 points apiece to lead Loyola of Chicago in a 76-72 victory in overtime against Northern Illinois Saturday night.
Blount, who came into the game with a 17-point average, scored early then was held without a point until he hit two free throws with 12:39 remaining in the game.
The Ramblers (4-5) went through most of the first half, but Northern Illinois (2-8) rallied and took a 64-60 lead with 51 seconds left on a lay-up by Jarvis Nichols.
Loyola's Ross Forman cut the margin with one of two free throws, and Blount tied the game with a 3-pointer with 5.6 seconds left.
In the overtime, Tracy Robinson opened the scoring with a 3-pointer for Loyola, but Darion Anderson hit back-to-back lay-ups to give the Huskies their last lead at 68-67 with three minutes left.
Andy Polka and Blount then combined for Loyola's last 9 points to seal the victory.
Polka finished with 13 points, a career high.
