BOSTON (AP) -Mike Trimboli scored 23 points, including two free throws in the waning moments, and Vermont defeated Harvard 73-68 on Sunday.
The Catamounts led 69-68 when Nick Vier was fouled by Harvard's Drew Housman while attempting a 3-pointer with 25 seconds to play. Vier hit two free throws and Trimboli followed suit after being fouled on Vermont's next possession.
Vermont (3-6) went ahead for good on two free throws by Timothy McCrory with 7:33 remaining in the second half. McCrory had 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting to go with eight rebounds.
Jeremy Lin had 18 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for Harvard (4-8). Vermont out-rebounded the Crimson 46-28.
The game was tied, 7-7, with 17:45 to go in the first half before the Catamounts went on a 25-6 run over the next 11 minutes. Trimboli hit an acrobatic turnaround jumper at the buzzer to give Vermont a 42-27 lead at the half.
Harvard went on a 26-7 run to open the second half, taking a 53-49 lead with 11:56 to play.
Housman and Pat Magnarelli each finished with 14 points for Harvard, while Evan Harris added 10 points, six rebounds, six steals and three assists.
