NEWARK, Del. (AP) -Senior Herb Courtney netted a game-high 18 points - including the 1,000th of his career - and Delaware beat Boston University 73-55 on Saturday night.

Courtney was one of four Delaware players in double figures. Alphonso Dawson scored 17, Marc Egerson added 14 and Jim Ledsome contributed another 14 for the Blue Hens (4-6).

Boston University (3-7) got a team-high 13 points from Corey Lowe and 11 from Scott Brittain.

The Terriers shot only 35.5 percent (22-for-62) in the contest, compared to the Hens' season-high 58 percent (29-for-50) from the floor.

Delaware took its first lead at 9-7 on a three-pointer by Dawson with 14:22 left in the first half.

The Hens eventually put together an 18-6 run to open up their biggest lead of the first half, 33-20.

Leading 33-21 at halftime, Delaware started the second half on a 15-3 run to open up a 48-25 advantage with 14:30 remaining in the game.

The Hens later pushed their lead to as many as 28 points at 55-27 and never led by fewer than 18 points in the final 10 minutes.

After winning only five games last season, the Blue Hens have now won four of their last six games.
