WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -Whitney Coleman scored 13 points to lead a balanced Monmouth attack as the Hawks beat Princeton 59-50 on Sunday.
Dutch Gaitley added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds for Monmouth (3-10), which shot a season-high 54.1 percent from the floor and broke a seven-game losing streak. Kyle Koncz had a game-high 14 points for Princeton (2-10), while Zach Finley finished with 12 points for the Tigers.
The teams traded baskets early on, but Monmouth took command midway through the first half and closed with a 20-10 run, giving them a 32-21 lead at the break. Princeton then tried to rally, scoring the first five points of the second half, but Monmouth took charge again with a 16-6 run.
The Hawks then held double-digit leads for most of the second half before Princeton narrowed the deficit by scoring the game's last eight points.
