ETSU 67, S.C.-Upstate 60

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -Andrew Reed scored 14 points and seven rebounds to lead a balanced attack in a 67-60 win over S.C. Upstate on Saturday.
Reed and three other Bucs players scored in double figures in the Atlantic Sun conference opener that pushed ETSU to 7-7 overall. The Spartans fell to 2-13 overall in the first meeting between the schools.
Mike Smith added pitched in 13, Travis Strong scored 11 and Courtney Pigram added 10 as ETSU held USC Upstate to 34 percent from the floor and forced 20 turnovers.
Bobby Davis posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for USC Upstate and Jeremy Byrd posted a game-high 14.
Luke Payne and Mezie Uzochukwu each added 11 points apiece for the Spartans.
The Bucs held a 39-27 advantage at the intermission and held back a second half rally that brought USC Upstate to 45-42 with 10 minutes left.
