LORETTO, Pa. (AP) -Whitney Coleman scored 27 points on 12-of-14 shooting to lead Monmouth, N.J. to a 51-50 victory over St. Francis, Pa. on Saturday night.
Jhamar Youngblood, the leading scorer for Monmouth (4-11, 1-2 Northeast Conference) was held to only four points, but his basket from 12 feet away with 15 seconds left was the game-winner for the Hawks.
Cale Nelson, one of three St. Francis players to score 10 points, had a chance at a game-winning 3-point attempt, but the shot hit the front of the rim as time expired. Chris Berry and Devin Sweetney also added 10 points for St. Francis (3-11, 1-2).
Monmouth was outrebounded 36-21 but pulled out the victory on the strength of .512 shooting from the field. The Hawks had dropped their first six road games before the victory, while St. Francis has now lost seven of its eight games at home.
