NATCHITOCHES, La. (AP) -Colby Bargeman and Keithan Hancock scored 16 points each and Northwestern State got 42 points from its bench to upset Texas-Arlington 86-82 in the Southland Conference opener for both teams Saturday.
It was the first time this season and the third time in 47 games that Bargeman has come off the bench for the Demons (5-10). Texas-Arlington (10-3) was led by 23 points each from Rog'er Guignard and Anthony Vereen.
The game was tied 14 times, and the lead changed hands 17 times.
Northwestern State led 41-37 at halftime, but didn't take the lead for good until Trey Gilder, who finished with 10 points, hit a dunk with 2:48 left on a lob pass from Michael McConathy.
Damon Jones had 12 points for the Demons. McConathy had a game-high eight assists and three steals off the bench.
Rod Epps had 14 points for Texas-Arlington, and Jermaine Griffin 10, including his 1,000th.
