KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -David Jackson had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Western Illinois ended a 16-game losing streak to Missouri-Kansas City with a 69-62 victory Saturday night.
Jerryck Owens-Murrey had 14 points for the Leathernecks (6-8, 1-2 Summit), who had five players in double figures in beating UMKC for the first time since Feb. 28, 1999, at the Mid-Continent tournament.
David DuBois had 10 points and 10 rebounds for his first career double-double, and Chris Gonzalez scored 10 points, all in the first half.
Dane Brumagin led UMKC (5-11, 0-4) with 21 points and Brian Gettinger added 17.
UMKC, which has been outscored by 118 points in the first half this season, missed 13 of its first 14 shots and went nearly 10 minutes without a field goal as Western Illinois went on a 15-0 run to lead 21-7.
Western Illinois led 35-24 at halftime, but UMKC opened the second half with a 21-10 run. The Kangaroos tied the game at 45-all on a pair of free throws by Brumagin with 9 1/2 minutes left, but never could take lead.
UMKC, which shot 31 percent, made 10 3-pointers, but only six two-point baskets.
