MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -Desmond Yates tied his career-best 23 points and shot 10-of-13 from the field to lead Middle Tennessee to a 68-50 victory over Denver on Saturday night.
On the first game night banished from their plush locker room, Middle Tennessee (5-9, 2-2 Sun Belt) players took the punishment from Coach Kermit Davis to heart and snapped a three-game losing streak.
The Blue Raiders finished the first half leading 27-24, but returned from their starker facilities down the hall to shoot 73 percent in the second.
After the team's 62-51 loss Wednesday to Western Kentucky, Davis locked the renovated locker room until attitudes improved.
Adam Tanner lead Denver (6-8, 2-1) with 15 points, David Kummer added 12 and Nate Rohnert scored 10.
Middle Tennessee outrebounded Denver 28-17 and kept them to 39 percent from the field for the game.
Kevin Kanaskie added 13 points, Demetrius Green scored 12 and Theryn Hudson added 11 for Middle Tennessee.
