POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) -Freshman guard Jay Gavin scored a career high 23 points to lead Marist to a 76-66 win over Manhattan on Monday in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The Red Foxes won their third straight, improving to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Gavin went 6-for-8 from beyond the 3-point arc and shot 5-for-7 from the free-throw line. Senior Spongy Benjamin added 15 points, a team-high seven rebounds and two blocked shots for Marist. Red-shirt sophomore David Devezin added 11 points.
Marist shot 53 percent from the field, hit 10 3-pointers and outrebounded Manhattan by a 41-35 margin. The Red Foxes led by as much as 13 in the second half.
Laurence Jolicoeur led the Jaspers (7-7, 1-3) with 17 points and Rashad Green had 12.
