LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) -Donovan Morris had 16 of his 20 points after halftime and Greg Plater scored 18 points Saturday to lead Long Beach State to a 71-53 win over UC Davis.
The 49ers (4-11, 1-3 Big West) snapped a five-game losing streak and won their first conference game of the season.
David Carter had 15 points for UC Davis (7-9, 1-2), which struggled on defense, allowing Long Beach State to penetrate the interior with little resistance and doing little to prevent 49er 3-pointers.
Long Beach State shot 54 percent from the field and went 8-for-18 from behind the 3-point line. UC Davis shot just 36 percent, going 3-for-19 from behind the arc.
Plater had 13 first-half points, leading Long Beach State to a 34-24 halftime lead.
Early in the second half the 49ers ran off eight straight points as part of a 21-5 run that gave them a 57-35 lead with 9:01 to play. Morris scored 13 points during the nine-minute stretch.
