BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) -Currye Todd made all four of his 3-pointers and finished with 16 points off the bench to lead Lamar past Texas-San Antonio 81-56 in the Southland Conference opener for both teams Saturday night.
Lamar Sanders and Darren Hopkins had 15 points apiece for the Cardinals (7-7, 1-0). Sanders, who was 7-of-7 from the field, combined with Hopkins and Todd to make 17 of 20 field goals.
Joey Shank scored 17 points to lead the Roadrunners (6-8, 0-1). Travis Gabbidon had 10 points along with Keith Spencer, who had 13 rebounds.
UTSA scored the first five points of the second half to take a 36-35 lead, but Justin Nabors put Lamar back in front for good on a dunk with 17:36 remaining. That started a 28-4 run punctuated by a Sanders layup for a 63-40 lead with 7:59 to go.
In the second half, the Cardinals shot 59 percent to 38 percent for the Roadrunners.
