BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -Anthony Fisher scored a game-high 19 points as Tennessee Tech defeated Samford University 57-47 on Saturday and avenged a 3-point loss they suffered opposite the Bulldogs earlier in the month.
Fisher's late points turned out to be the biggest of the night, with the first allowing the Golden Eagles (7-11, 4-4 Ohio Valley Conference) to break a 47-47 tie with 1:48 to play.
Then, after a missed Bulldog 3-point try and rebound by Amadi McKenzie, Fisher came through again, this time with a 3-pointer that put Tennessee Tech ahead 52-47 with 57 seconds left.
The Golden Eagles had shot just 35.7 percent in the first half and trailed 28-26 at the break.
McKenzie scored 13 points for Tennessee Tech, followed by Frank Davis with 11 points and Daniel Northern with 10 rebounds.
Samford (7-9, 4-4) shot 55 percent from the floor in the first half, but dropped to just 28.6 percent in the second after going 6-of-21 from the floor.
The Bulldogs were led by Bryan Friday with 17 points and Travis Peterson, who scored 11 points.
