CHICAGO (AP) -Josh Mayo grabbed 20 points and seven assists to lead Illinois-Chicago past Loyola of Chicago 78-68 in double overtime on Saturday night.
Karl White Jr. wasn't far behind Mayo with 19 points and five assists, and Scott Vandermeer chipped in 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Flames.
Illinois-Chicago (9-7, 3-2 Horizon League) rallied to score 17 points in the second overtime after lagging 25-23 at the half. The score was tied at 56 at the end of regulation play.
Both teams scored just five each in the first overtime, and Loyola of Chicago scored seven in the second overtime.
J.R. Blount scored a game-high and season-high 23 points for Loyola of Chicago (5-11, 1-5 Horizon). Blount hit his fourth three-pointer of the game with six seconds left in regulation for the tie.
Justin Cerasoli was the only other Ramblers player in double digits with 21 points, 10 of them in the extra frames. Andy Polka added seven points and nine rebounds for Loyola of Chicago.
