LOS ANGELES (AP) -Shawn Deadwiler scored 16 points and Orlando Johnson and Corey Counts each added 14 as Loyola Marymount snapped a seven game losing streak and defeated Portland 73-68 Monday.

The Lions (4-14, 1-1 West Coast Conference), won for the first time at home in eight games this season and notched their first victory since December 8th. The Pilots (6-11, 1-1) dropped to 4-8 on the road.

Deadwiler, Johnson and Counts combined to score 33 of LMU's 46 second half points. Counts made six-of-six free throws in the final 1:28 to seal the victory - the Lions first home win since February 2007.

Deadwiler's basket with 10:47 remaining gave LMU a 51-45 lead. Portland cut the Lions lead to 57-55 with 6:12 to play on a basket by Kramer Knutson but the Lions' defense stiffened and the Pilots didn't score another basket until just over a minute to play.

Tim Diederichs also scored 12 points on six-of-eight shooting for the Lions. Robin Smeulders led the Pilots with 16 points and Nik Raivio added 14 points.

The Lions' win marked only the fourth time in the last 11 games LMU has beaten Portland.

Jared Stohl 3-pointer at the buzzer gave the Pilots a 30-27 halftime lead. Portland shot 44.4 percent and outrebounded the Lions 20-13 in the opening half. LMU shot 39.3 percent and were led by Tim Diederichs eight points in the first half.
