NEW YORK (AP) -Marcus Stout scored 23 points and Fordham ended an eight-game losing streak against George Washington with a 66-53 victory Wednesday night.
Bryant Dunston had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Rams (7-8, 1-2 Atlantic 10), who snapped a three-game losing streak Michael Binns and Brenton Butler both had 10 points for Fordham, which played without head coach Dereck Whittenburg who was ill and remained home. Assistant Travis Lyons served as the head coach.
Rob Diggs had 19 points for the Colonials (5-7, 1-1), who dropped to 0-6 on the road. Maureece Rice had 13 points and Damian Hollis added 11 points and 10 rebounds for George Washington, which had won 14 of its last 15 meetings with Fordham.
George Washington opened the second half with a 19-3 run to wipe out a 13-point deficit and take a 43-40 lead. Diggs had nine points in the run including the last four.
Diggs' jumper with 7:30 to play tied the game at 45 and Fordham took the lead for good on 3-pointer by Butler with 6:05 left. The Rams increased the lead to as much as 58-47 on a free throw by Stout with 2:03 to go. The closest the Colonials got was 58-51 on a layup by Hermann Ipoku with 1:17 left.
