WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -Joe Seymore scored 16 points - one of four Central Connecticut State players in double figures - to lead the Blue Devils to a 73-65 win over Monmouth on Thursday night.
Ken Horton added 15 points and Tristan Blackwood had 14 for Central Connecticut (8-10, 4-3 in Northeast Conference, while Shemik Thompson finished with 11 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Jhamar Youngblood had 22 points for the Hawks (4-14, 1-5), while Alex Nunner added 13 and James Hett had 12.
The Blue Devils, who led for most of the game, were ahead 36-29 at the break and opened the second half with a 14-7 run. Monmouth, though, fought back and eventually cut the lead to 66-61 on Whitney Coleman's 3-pointer with 58 seconds remaining.
The Blue Devils, though, sealed the win at the free throw line, as Seymore and Horton combined to make 7-of-8 shots in the final 63 seconds.
