ELON, N.C. (AP) -Anthony Marshall scored 17 points to lead Georgia Southern past Elon 67-57 on Thursday night.

Matthew Fields had 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Louis Graham and Willie powers both added 11 points for the Eagles (12-5, 5-2 Southern Conference), who used a 28-10 first-half run to take the lead for good.

Brett James scored 15 points and Ola Atoyebi added 13 points for Elon (7-10, 5-4), which was held below 40 percent shooting for just the fourth time this season and fell to 5-4 in games decided by 10 or fewer points.

The Phoenix opened the game on a 12-4 run that covered the first seven minutes, but Georgia Southern responded with its big run, capped by Antoine Johnson's fast-break basket with 31 seconds left to lead 32-22 at the break.

When Elon pulled to 39-35 on Atoyebi's two free throws, Georgia Southern countered with nine straight points to take a 48-35 lead.
