CHICAGO (AP) -J.R. Blount had 23 points and Leon Young added 19 off the bench as Loyola of Chicago used a flurry of late free throws for a 71-65 Horizon League victory over Detroit on Thursday night.
The Ramblers led by as many as 10 points midway through the second half, but Detroit tied the game at 63 on a 3-pointer by Jon Goode with 2:30 left. Goode led the Titans with a career-high 30 points.
Young broke the tie with a pair of free throws with 1:57 left and Blount added another pair with 1:34 remaining.
After Goode cut the lead with his final basket of the night with a minute left, Detroit failed to score again.
Loyola added four free throws in the final 2.7 seconds when Detroit's Michael Harrington was called for a personal foul and a technical. Young and Blount each added two free throws on that play for the final margin.
The victory broke a four-game losing streak for Loyola (6-11, 2-5 Horizon) and was the 11th loss in a row for the Titans (4-13, 0-7).
Chris Hayes with 13 was the only Titan besides Goode in double figures.
