NCAA Basketball Post-Game Coverage

Idaho St. 56, Montana 54

1/17/2008 11:33 PM

MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -Down by a point with three seconds left, Donnie Carson rebounded his own miss and banked in the game-winning shot to put Idaho State past Montana 56-54 on Thursday night.

Carson, who was fouled on the shot, was poked in the eye by a celebrating teammate trying to congratulate him and had to leave the game. Idaho State's Logan Kinghorn made the free throw for the final score.

Lucas Steijn scored 12 points, while Carson added 10 for the Bengals (6-11, 3-1 Big Sky).

Idaho State built leads as large as 14 points in the first half, but Montana rallied and went ahead 47-45 with 6:30 remaining in the game.

The Grizzlies (7-10, 1-3) held a slight edge for the next five minutes before the Bengals tied the score at 53-53 on a free throw by Matt Stucki with 1:12 left. Jordan Hasquet hit one of two free throws with 38 seconds remaining to give Montana a one-point lead before Carson hit the game-winning shot.

Hasquet led the Grizzlies with 16 points, and Andrew Strait added 15.
