GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -Alex Opacic tied his career high with 20 points and Furman beat the College of Charleston for only the second time in the last 11 meetings, 74-66, on Saturday night.

Opacic had 8 points in a 21-4 run in the first half that put the Paladins (3-15, 2-7 Southern Conference) out front to stay, 36-21. His layup also began a 12-4 run in the second half after the Cougars (9-9, 4-4) had cut the lead to three.

Justin Dehm had 12 points, all in the second half, for Furman, which snapped a four-game losing streak.

Dehm scored nine of Furman's last 11 points, including a 3-pointer that finished its clinching run. He added a driving layup and two foul shots in the final minute.

Tony White Jr. had 16 points to lead Charleston (9-9, 4-4), which made fewer than 30 percent of hits shots (10-of-34) in the opening half to trail 37-26 at the break.

The Cougars closed to 54-51 on Marcus Hammond's driving bucket with 11:22 to go.
