LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) -Courtney Lee made 20 of his 23 points in the second half as Western Kentucky broke away to beat Louisiana-Lafayette 69-66 on Saturday.

The teams were tied 27-27 at halftime, but Lee was 7-of-17 from the field and 7-of-9 at the free throw line in the second half.

Louisiana-Lafayette (8-10, 4-3 Sun Belt) led most of the first half, but only four times in the second - the last time at 37-36 with 15:16 left.

The Ragin' Cajuns tied the game at 41-41, but Western Kentucky (14-5, 6-1) took a 57-49 lead with 8:14 left and was ahead 64-52 at the 4:32 mark.

A 3-point shot by Tyren Johnson pulled the Cajuns to within two, 65-63, and one by freshman Travis Bureau cut the deficit to 67-66. But Lee made two free throws after Johnson's basket, and A.J. Slaughter hit another two after Bureau's for the final margin.

Steffphon Pettigrew made 14 points and six rebounds for the Hilltoppers, and Tyrone Brazelton led the game in rebounds (8) and assists (5).

Bureau and David Dees led the Cajuns with 11 points each.
