MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) -Mike Hall hit a school-record nine 3-pointers Thursday night, leading Idaho with 29 points as the Vandals defeated the San Jose State Spartans 74-63.
Jordan Brooks added 19 points for the Vandals (5-13, 2-5 Western Athletic Conference), while C.J. Webster scored 14 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for the Spartans (9-9, 2-4 WAC).
Hall, a junior college transfer from Lon Morris College in Texas, finished the night 9-for-10 from the 3-point line and 10-for-11 overall.
He finished the first half with 21 points; San Jose State had just 22 points through the first 20 minutes.
Hall broke Orlando Lightfoot's school record of eight 3-pointers, set in 1993.
Hall's first 3-pointer of the night came with 15:06 left in the first half and started the Vandals on a 12-2 run.
Junior forward Mike Kale added eight first-half points for Idaho on 4-for-6 shooting.
San Jose State came as close as three points in the second half, 53-50, following a Mac Peterson 3-pointer with 6:03 left. Clyde Johnson answered on Idaho's ensuing possession with a 3 of his own that gave his team a six-point lead.
