SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. (AP) -Senior forward Dreshawn Vance had 19 points including seven dunks as Cal Poly defeated UC Davis 79-67 Thursday night.
Junior guards Chaz Thomas and Trae Clark each added 16 points while sophomore guard Lorenzo Keeler contributed 10 points as the Mustangs snapped a three-game losing streak and improved to 7-11 for the season and 2-4 in Big West games.
Cal Poly had lost four of its last five games overall and three of its last four home contests. UC Davis, officially in the Big West for the first season, fell to 8-11 and 2-4.
The Aggies were led by sophomore guard Shane Hanson with 19 points and eight rebounds.
UC Davis never trailed the first half, building seven-point leads five times. The Mustangs caught the Aggies at the buzzer, 33-33, on a three-pointer by Thomas, capping an 11-4 run.
But UC Davis went back on top early in the second half, opening up a 51-42 advantage with 12:30 to go on a three-pointer by Hanson. One of Vance's seven dunks ignited Cal Poly as the Mustangs went on a 28-5 run.
