JACKSON, Miss. (AP) -Anthony Williams scored 27 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Grambling State to its second win of the season with a 78-69 victory over Jackson State on Saturday.

Grambling (2-12, 2-5 Southwestern Athletic Conference) took control of a tied game early in the first half with an 18-3 run to take make it 29-13 with 6:58 left in the half.

Jackson State (6-14, 4-3) has lost three of its last four games and shot just 37 percent in the game.

Grambling shot 56 percent from the floor and held Jackson State without a basket for over nine minutes of the first half.

Williams scored 10 straight points during a three-minute stretch of the second half as Grambling extended its lead to 63-41 with 11:40 left in the game.

The Tigers pulled within 70-62 with 3:50 remaining in the game, but couldn't close the gap.

George Akpele added 13 points for Grambling and Duran Diaz scored 10.

Darrion Griffin led Jackson State with 21 points and Garrison Johnson and Jeremy Caldwell finished with 13 each.
