BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) -Charon Fisher scored 19 of his 25 points in the second half to lead Niagara over Fairfield 73-61 Sunday.
Fisher, who had been second in the nation with 27 points per game, shot just 3-of-11 from the field in the first half, but took over in the second, making 5-of-10 from the field and 9-for-11 from the foul line for Niagara (13-6, 7-3 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).
Sophomore Tyrone Lewis led the way for Niagara with 27 points, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range.
Anthony Johnson paced Fairfield (7-13, 5-5) with 16 points and three blocks, and Mike Evanovich added 13.
The Stags took a 38-34 lead into halftime on a last-second put back by Evanovich, but their offense shutdown in the second half. The home team shot just 33.3 percent from the field and 6-for-14 from the foul line after the break.
The Purple Eagles went the other way, starting with Lewis' 3-pointer on the opening possession of the half.
Niagara quickly erased its deficit with a 6-0 run, taking a 40-38 lead with 18:35, and trailed only once the rest of the way.
At one point, Fisher scored 12 of 13 points for the Purple Eagles, who shot 42.3 percent in the second half and 42.6 percent for the game.
After closing the gap to 58-57 on Greg Nero's basket with five minutes to play, the Stags managed just one field the rest of the way.
Herbie Allen added 12 points for Fairfield. Anthony led Niagara with 10 rebounds and Fisher added eight.
