FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) -Live by the 3, lose by the 3.

Lorrenzo Wade hit a 3-pointer from the right elbow with 20 seconds left to lift San Diego State past Colorado State 83-82 on Tuesday night in a game in which the Rams sank 14 3-pointers to the Aztecs' four.

The Rams (6-14, 0-6 Mountain West) had one last chance to snap their six-game losing streak but Willis Gardner hit the rim with a runner and Ryan Amoroso pulled down the rebound for San Diego State (15-6, 5-2) as the buzzer sounded.

Wade's 3-pointer came 20 seconds after Marcus Walker sank his fifth 3-pointer, putting the Rams up 82-80.

Amoroso led the Aztecs with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Wade had 18 points and Billy White 17.

San Diego State, off to its best start in 23 years, was coming off consecutive three-point losses to BYU and UNLV. The Aztecs haven't lost three straight since the final three games of the 2004-05 season.

Walker's 26 points led the Rams, who also got 18 points from Jesse Woodard and 12 from Flynn Clayman, who was 3-for-3 from three-point range.

Walker was 5-for-7 and Woodard 4-for-7 as the Rams went 14-for-25 from the arc compared to San Diego State's 4-for-16.

The game featured 11 ties and 15 lead changes.

The Rams took a 37-35 lead into the locker room on Ronnie Aguilar's slam that capped an entertaining first half in which Woodard scored 10 straight points for Colorado State and White scored nine in a row for the Aztecs.
