SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -Chris Oakes scored a season-high 15 points and had nine rebounds as San Jose State defeated Cal State Bakersfield 71-56 on Tuesday night.

C.J. Webster and Tim Pierce each added 12 points as the Spartans (10-10) won their third straight home game and won as many as 10 in a season for the first time since going 10-22 in 2001-02. Jamon Hill added 11 points and Dashawn Wright had 10.

Trent Blakely scored 13 points to lead the Roadrunners (7-15), who lost their third in four games. Terrence Johns and Demarcus Hall each had 11 points.

Cal State Bakersfield is in its third year of a five-year transition to Division I.

The Spartans were missing leading scorer Justin Graham, out for a fourth game with an elbow injury.

Roadrunners' junior forward Santwon Latunde, who had 18 points and 11 rebounds against the Spartans earlier this season, hasn't played since Dec. 11 due to a shoulder injury.

San Jose State freshman Lance Olivier became the shortest player in NCAA Division I this season when the 5-foot-3 guard made his first appearance midway through the first half. During his four-minute stint, the Spartans went on a 10-0 run to turn a seven-point deficit into a 23-20 lead with just over six minutes left in the half. Olivier was 0-of-2 with a steal.

The Spartans led by as many as 18 points during the second half, maintaining a double-digit advantage after scoring eight of the first 10 points of the final 20 minutes.

Pierce made 3-of-4 3-pointers to help San Jose State take a 39-31 lead at halftime.
