Towson 60, Hofstra 51

TOWSON, Md. (AP) -Rocky Coleman scored a game-high 17 points for Towson off the bench and the Tigers defense forced 22 turnovers in a 60-51 victory over Hofstra Wednesday night.

It was only the second time in the past 10 meetings that Towson (9-11, 5-5 Colonial Athletic Association) has beaten the Pride (6-12, 3-7). The Tigers have now three straight conference games and handed the Pride their fifth loss in their past eight games.

Hofstra's Antoine Agudio, the conference's leading scorer, was held to two points in the first half and finished with 10 points, well below his season average of 23.2. C.C. Williams of Towson recorded his first career double-double with 10 points and 10 assists. Junior Hairston and Jonathan Pease also had 10 points each for the Tigers.

The Tigers squandered a 10-point lead at halftime, as the Pride went on a 11-2 run to open the second half and took a 32-31 lead with 15:13 left in the game. Towson, however, regained the lead on the next possession and never trailed again.

Both teams struggled offensively. Towson shot just 21 of 60 from the field, while the Pride was not much better in making 19 of 51 shots.

Charles Jenkins had a team-high 14 points for the Pride, while Dane Johnson added 12. Johnson also had four of Hofstra's 10 blocked shots and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

Towson's bench out-scored Hofstra's reserves 22-4.
