INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -Gary Patterson scored 37 points as IUPUI beat Southern Utah 88-66 Thursday night in the Summit League.
The Jaguars (16-5, 8-2 Summit) shot 59.3 percent en route to a 47-22 halftime lead. They cooled down after the break but still finished 30-of-56 (53.6 percent).
IUPUI led by as much as 31 points before halftime. The Thunderbirds (5-16, 3-7) outscored IUPUI 44-41 in the second half but it wasn't enough to catch up.
George Hill scored 13 points and had seven assists for IUPUI, which scored 17 points off Thunderbirds turnovers.
Southern Utah outrebounded the Jaguars 33-32 and outscored them 30-18 in the paint.
Geoff Payne led the Thunderbirds with 12. Orlando Griego, Dave Marek and Davis Baker each had 11.
