LOS ANGELES (AP) -Josh Jenkins scored nine of his 15 points in the second half to lift Cal State Northridge to a 69-64 victory over UC Irvine Thursday night.

Jenkins scored seven points on late free throws to help Northridge (15-4, 7-0 Big West) keep UC Irvine at bay.

Jayme Miller and Jonathan Heard each added 11 points for the Matadors.

Darren Fells had 16 points for Irvine (8-12, 3-4). Patrick Sanders scored 11 points, and Marcus McIntosh added 10 points for the Anteaters .

Heard scored five of his 11 points during a six-minute,16-4 run that turned a 40-40 tie into a 56-44 lead for the Matadors.

Fells scored off an offensive rebound with 9 minutes, 22 second to play, and Irvine didn't score another field goal until Fells made one with 3:29 to play.
