DENVER (AP) -Kyle Lewis had a career-high 22 points and Rob Lewis added 16 as Denver defeated Florida International 64-50 Thursday night.
Lewis also had seven rebounds, two assists, one block and a steal for the Pioneers (9-11, 5-4 Sun Belt Conference).
Florida International (6-14, 3-7 SBC) was led by Chris Fuller's 15 points and eight rebounds.
The Pioneers went on a 12-2 run to take an early 10-point lead. Denver built its lead to 13 at 19-6 with a 7-0 run between the 13:11 and 11:40 marks. Denver led 35-16 at the half.
Florida International chipped away at Denver's lead through the opening 12 minutes of the second half, coming within seven with less five minutes remaining. A 3-pointer by Lewis extended Denver's lead to 10.
Denver got free throws by Lewis, Jackson and Adam Tanner in the final 39 seconds to extend its lead
from nine to 14 points.
Tanner had a career-high four blocks along with 10 points, three rebounds, one assist and two steals.
