PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) -Ryan Wittman scored 21 points and Louis Dale continued his torrid free throw shooting as Cornell remained the only undefeated team in the Ivy League with a 75-64 win over Brown on Friday night.
The Big Red, who lead the league with a 3-0 record, are off to their best 16-game start (11-5) since the 1967-68 season. They've also won five games in a row and seven of their last eight.
Wittman, the son of Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Randy Wittman, connected on 7-of-13 overall shots and 5-of-10 shots from 3-point range.
Dale, who scored 15 points, was 8-for-8 from the free throw line and has made 39 consecutive free throws.
Mark McAndrew led Brown (9-8, 1-2) with 22 points while Peter Sullivan added 13.
Wittman buried a 3-point shot to snap a 33-33 halftime tie and give Cornell a lead it never relinquished.
After two free throws by Scott Friske pulled Brown within 44-42, Cornell outscored Brown 13-3 for a 57-45 lead with 9:07 remaining.
Cornell's man-to-man defense held Brown without a basket for 6:16 as the Bears scored only 11 points from the free throw line during the stretch.
Wittman keyed a first-half run by burying three consecutive 3-point shots as Cornell outscored Brown 20-3 to turn a six-point deficit into a 28-17 lead.
The Bears countered with a run of their own, 13-3, to tie it at the half as Adrian Williams scored seven points.
Cornell finished with 50 percent overall shooting (24-48) and 50 percent (9-18) from 3-point range.
The Big Red also converted 18-of-19 free throws (94.7 percent).
