Rider 89, Siena 75

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -Jason Thompson scored 23 points and grabbed 21 rebounds as Rider built a 25-point halftime lead and held on to beat Siena 89-75 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference on Saturday.

The Broncs (17-6, 10-2) jumped to a quick 15-5 lead and led 59-34 at the break, setting a school record for points in the first half of a game. Justin Robinson and Harris Mansell each sunk 3-pointers in an 11-0 run.

Thompson had 15 points and 11 rebounds in the first half, when his brother Ryan Thompson scored 12 of his 20 points.

For Rider, which won its ninth straight game, Harris Mansell finished with 13 points, Justin Robinson scored 12 and Mike Ringgold had 10.

Siena (13-8, 8-3) mounted a furious rally in the second half, cutting the lead to within 79-71 on Kenny Hasbrouck's layup with 4:23 to go. Hasbrouck scored 23 points. Edwin Ubiles had 18 points, and Alex Franklin added 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
