NEW YORK (AP) -Kellen Allen had 18 points and 12 rebounds and LIU defeated Monmouth 70-66 in overtime Saturday.
Jaytornah Wisseh and Kyle Johnson each added 14 points for the Blackbirds (11-10, 3-7 Northeast Conference), who snapped a four-game losing streak. Eugene Kotorobai added 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Whitney Coleman had 17 points for the Hawks (5-7, 2-8), who lost their third straight. Alex Nunner had 13 points, and R.J. Rutledge had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Johnson's 3-pointer with 12 seconds left sent the game into overtime, tied at 59.
LIU scored the first five points of overtime, taking a 64-59 lead on Kotorobai's 3-pointer at 3:16. Monmouth stormed back, tying the game at 64 on Coleman's 3-pointer a minute later.
Allen's layup with 1:50 put Long Island ahead for good, 66-64.
