PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Matt Janning and Eugene Spates each scored 19 points and Northeastern held Drexel scoreless for almost 10 minutes in the second half for a 63-40 victory on Saturday.

Janning's 3-pointer with 17:22 remaining in the game ignited a 24-0 run that spanned 9:28 and culminated with a layup by Chaisson Allen that gave the Huskies a 44-23 lead with 8:58 to play. Janning and Spates combined for 17 points during the rally.

The win was the second straight for Northeastern (5-6 Colonial Athletic Association, 9-12 overall).

The Dragons - without leading scorer Frank Elegar, who did not play due to back spasms - lost their fifth straight game (2-9, 9-14). Drexel shot 23 percent from the field and managed only two points more than the season-lowest 38 points scored at George Mason on Nov. 29.

Tramayne Hawthorne and Gerald Colds each scored 12 points to lead Drexel. Randy Oveneke pulled down 10 of his game-high 13 rebounds in the first half for the Dragons.

Drexel committed nine turnovers and missed eight field goal attempts during the Huskies' second-half run. Hawthorne's 3-pointer with 7:55 remaining ended the run and a 9:58 scoreless streak.

Northeastern led 16-15 at halftime despite shooting 23 percent from the field in the first half. The Dragons, meanwhile, shot 19 percent in the opening half.
