SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP)Vinnie McGhee Jr. had 17 points, six assists, three steals and a key basket to help Sacramento State beat Northern Colorado74-72 on Saturday night.

Clark Woods added 15 points and three steals and Jason Davis added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Hornets (4-16, 2-7 Big Sky), who ended a five-game losing streak.

Robert Palacios had 13 points, nine rebounds and Terry Anderson added 11 points for the Bears (9-13, 3-7 Big Sky).

Trailing the Hornets 60-52, the Bears battled back to tie the game 70-70 on a three-point shot by Will Figures with 11.2 seconds left.

McGhee hit a bank shot off the glass to put the Hornets up 72-70 with 4.4 seconds remaining.

After the Bears' Jefferson Mason was called for traveling with 2.3 seconds to go, Woods was fouled and made two free throws that sealed the victory for the Hornets.

Despite being out rebounded 25-19 by the Bears, the Hornets broke a 24-24 tie late in the first half to take a 31-28 halftime lead.
