MALIBU, Calif. (AP) -De'Jon Jackson scored 20 points and San Diego held off a second-half charge from Pepperdine for a 61-58 victory Monday night.

Rob Jones had 16 points and seven rebounds for the Toreros (13-11, 6-1 West Coast Conference), who won their fifth straight game.

Freshman Malcolm Thomas had 18 points, 15 rebounds, six blocked shots and four assists for Pepperdine (7-16, 1-6). It was his fifth double-double of the season. Fellow freshman Tyrone Shelley added 14 points and seven rebounds.

The Waves trailed by 13 at halftime, but fought back to within a point late in the second half, then missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have sent the game to overtime.

On Saturday Pepperdine blew a 19-point second-half lead in a defeat to San Francisco that gave Dons coach Eddie Sutton his 800th career win.
