CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) -Ray Barbosa scored 25 points, Jay Greene had 11 assists and Maryland-Baltimore County beat Stony Brook 75-63 Wednesday night for its season-high fourth consecutive victory.
Darryl Proctor added 17 points and Cavell Johnson had 12 for the Retrievers (16-7, 8-2 America East), who improved to 9-1 at home and dealt the Seawolves (4-18, 1-9) their eighth straight defeat.
Emanuel Neto lead Stony Brook, which fell to 1-11 on the road, with 14 points and eight rebounds. Ricky Lucas scored 11 points.
UMBC, which has won eight of 10 overall, improved to 2-0 minus leading scorer Brian Hodges, who is sidelined indefinitely with a sprained left ankle.
The Retrievers completed a two-game series sweep of the Seawolves for the first time since joining the conference five seasons ago.
A 14-4 second-half run helped UMBC pull away after Michael Tyree intercepted a pass and scored to get the Seawolves within 49-45 with 8:56 remaining in the game.
Barbosa knocked down a 3-pointer from the left corner and Justin Fry scored on a baseline jumper for a 54-45 lead. After Eddie Castellanos' basket, Proctor sandwiched a layup and a short baseline jumper around a fadeaway right-wing 3 by Greene for a 61-47 lead.
UMBC had trouble adjusting to the Seawolves' floating 2-3 zone in the first half and led 28-25 after the opening 20 minutes. Barbosa, who finished 7-for-11 from beyond the arc, hit four first-half 3-pointers.
