EL PASO, Texas (AP) -Claude Britten hit a layup with three seconds left Wednesday night to give Texas-El Paso a 66-64 victory over Tulane.
Tulane had tied the game at 64-64 with 1:55 left on a jumper by Matt Wheaton. Neither team could get a shot to fall until Britten pulled down an offensive rebound and hit the game winner. Kevin Sims missed a 3-pointer as time expired.
Stefon Jackson led UTEP (14-7, 5-3 Conference USA) with 18 points. Randy Culpepper added 13, and Marvin Kilgore and Britten each had 12.
David Gomez led Tulane (15-7, 5-3) with 18 points. Donnavan Stith added 15 and Daniel Puckett 14 for Tulane.
The game was tied 13 times and neither team could break the game open.
UTEP scored 18 points off Tulane's 22 turnovers.
