HAMDEN, Conn. (AP) -Joe Seymore scored his game-high 19 points in the second half to lead Central Connecticut to an 85-71 win over instate conference rival Quinnipiac on Thursday.
Seymore was one of four players in double figures for the Blue Devils (11-12, 7-5 Northeast Conference), who have won the last eight meetings in the series.
Quinnipiac (12-10, 8-3) was led by Evann Baker with 14 points and DeMario Anderson with 13.
The game was tied at 30-30 at the break, but Central would take over from there.
The Blue Devils hit six of their first nine shots to start the second half to open up a 45-35. The visitors then got what amounted to a five-point play when Shemik Thompson hit a driving layup and was fouled. He hit the foul shot and Quinnipiac was assessed a technical foul on the play and Tristan Blackwood hit both free throws.
That gave Central a 57-41 lead with 11:16 to play and Quinnipiac (12-10, 8-3) never got closer than 10 the rest of the way.
Blackwood and Marcus Palmer both scored 18 points for the Blue Devils. Palmer also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
