TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -Thomas Coleman hit two free throws with 1.1 seconds left to lift North Carolina A&T to a 80-78 double overtime win over Florida A&M in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game on Saturday.
With 13 seconds left in the game, FAMU's Joe Ballard made one of two from the free throw line to tie the game. Steven Rush's jumper at the other end bounced off the rim and Coleman was fouled by Leslie Robinson as he tried to tip it in.
Coleman had missed badly on his first two free throw attempts of the game, including an air ball, but calmly stepped up to the line and secured the Aggies sixth MEAC win.
The Aggies trailed by as many as 17 in the second half, but slowly clawed back into the game. Glenn Nelson hit a 3-pointer with seven seconds left in regulation and sent the game to overtime.
Akini Akini's layup with 1:33 left in the first overtime gave FAMU a two point lead, but Coleman's dunk with 17 seconds left tied the game.
Ballard's 3-pointer fell short, sending the game to a second overtime.
Rush finished with a team-high 21 points, and Ed Jones added 17 for North Carolina A&T (12-10, 6-3 MEAC). Robinson scored 20 of his 25 points in the first half as Florida A&M (8-14, 4-5 MEAC) jumped out to a 40-26 halftime lead.
Ballard and Lamar Twitty both finished with 15, and Akini added 12.
