WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (AP) -Chris Vann and Jeremy Goode each scored 15 points as Mount St. Mary's rallied for a 76-66 win over Monmouth on Saturday night.
Will Holland added 11 points and Shawn Atupem had 10 for the Mountaineers (11-13, 7-6 Northeast Conference), who made 52.4 percent of their shots. Whitney Coleman had 18 points for the Hawks (5-19, 2-10), while R.J. Rutledge came off the bench to add 14.
The Mountaineers led 34-30 at the break, but Monmouth appeared to take command when it started the second half with an 11-2 run. They then maintained the lead until Mount St. Mary's went on a 15-4 run midway through the second half to take the lead for good.
Coleman eventually cut the lead to 60-57 when he hit a 3-pointer with 2:58 left, but Vann then hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give the Mountaineers a 66-57 lead with 1:39 remaining. The Mount then made 10-for-11 free throws down the stretch to seal the win. 1/4
