OREM - Ryan Toolson tied a school record with a career-high 38 points to carry Utah Valley State to a thrilling 99-89 comeback win over Chicago State in overtime Saturday night.

Toolson scored 10 points on three shots at the end of regulation and added six more in overtime to cap the comeback after Utah Valley State blew a 15-point halftime lead.

Jordan Brady had 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Richard Troyer had 17 points and 14 rebounds for Utah Valley State (12-13). Troyer's overtime dunk put the Wolverines ahead for good.

David Holston led Chicago State (9-16) with 22 points and seven assists. John Cantrell added 15 points and Tawrence Walton had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

The game featured two of the top 10 scorers in Division I, and Toolson and Holston didn't disappoint. Toolson's 38 points tied Utah Valley State's NCAA scoring record set by Utah Jazz guard Ronnie Price.

Utah Valley State led 47-32 at halftime, but Chicago State's shooters were torrid in the second half, shooting 71 percent and making 6-of-11 3-pointers.

Seven layups fueled a 27-8 run to start the period and Holston finally erased Utah Valley State's big lead with a 3-pointer.

Holston gave Chicago State a 78-72 lead late in the game before Toolson's 10-point outburst sent the game into overtime. He converted a four-point play and nailed two NBA-distance 3-pointers in a two-and-a-half minutes.

Neither scorer started well.

Toolson made two quick baskets and then went 14 minutes without getting off a shot. Holston experienced a similar drought after he hit an early 3-pointer, then went nearly the same 14 minutes before scoring again on a layup.

But Toolson was right in the middle of Utah Valley State's decisive first-half run. A Jordan Swarbrick free throw pulled Utah Valley State even at 23 and Richard Troyer nailed back-to-back 3-pointers to spark the spurt. Then Toolson took over, scoring 10 points in three minutes.

Toolson played all 45 minutes and added four assists and four steals. He made 11-of-17 shots and all 13 of his free-throw attempts. Utah Valley State made all 10 free throws in overtime and finished 30-of-35 as a team.
