PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -Nik Raivio scored 17 points to lead Portland to a 74-63 victory over Loyola Marymount in West Coast Conference action Saturday night.
Jared Stohl and Ethan Niedermeyer each added 14 points for the Pilots (2-6 WCC, 8-16), who broke a six-game conference losing streak. Shawn Deadwiler led Loyola (2-6, 5-19) with 15 points, only four of them in the second half.
It was one of Portland's best shooting performances of the season as the Pilots hit 52 percent in each half. They were 7-of-20 from beyond the three-point line.
Portland led 36-31 at halftime and then watched the Lions go on an 8-2 run to start the second half, which put Loyola in front 39-38.
The Lions extended their lead to 43-40 on a jumper by Quentin Turner, but it was their last lead.
Portland regained the lead for good when Stohl hit consecutive three-pointers to give the Pilots a 48-45 advantage with 11 minutes remaining.
The second of those three-pointers started a 15-5 Portland run, which was capped by another three-pointer by Stohl and gave the Pilots a 60-50 lead with 3:47 left. Stohl finished the game with four 3s.
The Lions trimmed that deficit to 60-56 on two free throws each by Deadwiler and Orlando Johnson, but Loyola got no closer the rest of the way. Portland then hit seven foul shots in the final two minutes.
Portland had four players in double figures, including Robin Smeulders with 12. Johnson was Loyola's only other double-figure scorer, with 12.
